The Hero's Journey
This step is completely optional and depends on the kind of story being told. It's based on a storytelling technique developed by the writer and mythology scholar Joseph Campbell. It follows the path of a character who leaves their home to go on a mission or adventure, then returns home afterwards a different person because they were changed by their experiences on the journey.
